There are many talented students at HCS and I hope you can check out some of their accomplishments on the various Facebook pages.

  • Basketball player Ella Clark scored her 1,000th career point for the Lady Cadets!

  • Congratulations Coach Gross and the Hilton Varsity Wrestling team on their second consecutive Section V dual meet championship! The Cadets defeated Brockport to win the meet championship. Hilton will continue to the NYSPHSAA dual meet at SRC Arena and Events Center in Syracuse!

New Board Member

Welcome Deb Montrallo, Class of 1973 to the Board. She has graciously agreed to take the position of secretary. Deb is a retired teacher who brings classroom experience and knowledge of the school district.

November’s Trivia Night

Our first trivia night was fun and loud! We had a blast watching 11 teams and 43 people compete for prizes.  We raised $700 for our grants and scholarships. Special thanks to The Dakota Restaurant for the use of their facility and a shout out to Marc D’Amico, Principal of the Merton Williams School, Mike Heise of The Big H Podcast, and Nancy Leport, President of HAA for acting as emcee’s. The Team of Lenhard and DiPalma led all three rounds to capture the grand prize of gift certificates to the Dakota Restaurant.

We want to thank the Classes of 1965, 1966, 1967, 1983, and 1973

We want to thank the Classes of 1965, 1966, 1967, 1983, and 1973 for their generous donations to the Alumni Association. In July the classes of 65, 66, and 67 held a picnic where they invited Nancy Leport to speak about the Alumni Association. Their donation will be put to good use. The Class of 1983 gave to the John Buell Memorial Scholarship and the Class of 1973 donated the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle they held at their reunion.  We are so grateful for the generosity of this alumni and realize that our mission and work are having an impact. Thank you!

Mural Dedication

On October 5, 2023, the new Mural in the foyer of the High School was officially dedicated. The artists were Morgan LaRocca, Christine Verweire, and Kristen Marcello, all High School Art Teachers. Dr. Jeff Green, principal of the high school thanked the Alumni Association for their generous grant to make this possible and President Nancy Leport spoke as well. The Class of 2023 donated the plaque recognizing our donation.

Scholarship Winners:  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL

  • The first Hilton Alumni Scholarship for $1000 was presented to Charlie Streb (black shirt) for his training as an electrical lineman. Charlie was an outstanding candidate and came with glowing recommendations.

  • The Scoppa Memorial Scholarship went to two seniors who will be pursuing teaching degrees. Sophia Streiner (black dress) and Victoria Velyk (red dress) both received a $500 award.

  • The John Buell Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Aiden Morealle (blue shirt) who will use his $300 scholarship to further his education in Art. Aiden received several scholarships on Bravo Night and was well deserving for each.

Section V Baseball Player of the Year

Section V Baseball Player of the Year went to Hilton senior James Capellupo. This is the second year that a member of the Hilton Varsity Baseball team has been named player of the year. James helped lead Hilton to its second straight league title and broke the Section 5 record for shutouts. University of Massachusetts at Lowell will be his destination in the Fall where he will, undoubtedly, keep breaking records. And a shout out to Coach Kevin Whelehan who has coached the last two Section V Players of the Year!

Friend of Education Award

Nancy Leport and HAA received the Friend of Education Award from the Board of Education. We were nominated by Dr. Jeff Green, High School Principal, for the work she and the HAA are doing on behalf of the students. Mary Pfarrer Tilibein, ’70, also received the award for the work she does with the elementary school classes.

Congratulations to Dr. Kathy Peterson, Class of 75, and Professor of Nursing at SUNY Brockport on the awarding of a $249,000 grant from SUNY’s Nursing Emergency Training Fund to expand campus healthcare degree programs for students interested in pursuing nursing care. SUNY Brockport will use the funds to expand its partnerships with rural federally funded healthcare centers in dire need of care providers. Kathy is Chair of SUNY Brockport’s Department of Nursing and says “we hope to increase the availability of primary care providers in underserved locations including Genesee, Orleans, and Wyoming counties.” Kathy was also the driving force behind Brockport’s Doctor of Nursing program, the first of its kind in the system. Well done, Kathy!

Congratulations to Dr. Kathy Peterson
